Description
The Litton is an ogee top memorial with a moulded edge. The ogee is the double curve that gives the top its soft shouldered profile, and the moulded edge is worked rather than left square, so the stone has a shaped border running around the face.
It can be finished two ways. Sanded, as in the Bahama Blue example, gives a soft matt surface that suits a traditional setting. Polished gives a deeper colour and a reflective face that shows lettering more sharply. The same memorial looks noticeably different in each.
When the Litton is used in a churchyard it must be in the matt finish. Many churchyards set rules on finish, height and material, and we will check what applies before anything is ordered.
All of our workmanship complies with the National Association of Memorial Masons Code of Practice. Materials are selected from all over the world, and we will advise you on which are suitable for a particular design and for the churchyard or cemetery where the memorial will stand.
Almost any design can be produced in almost any material. If you have seen a memorial you like and have a photograph or a sketch of it, show it to us and we will work from that. We also carry out maintenance and renovation, and have long experience of restoring older memorials.
